could a few people lift a chambers??

Hello all-

For anyone who has ever transported a chambers - I was originally looking into renting a U-haul truck with a ramp and refrigerator dolly to pick up a Chambers. However, a friend suggested that two or three average size guys could lift a 350lb stove into the back of a standard pickup and then out again. The stove is at ground level, and the pickup truck would have no ramp.

In anyone's experience, is this a wise thing to do? or just a cheap money-saving venture that is miscalculated? I'm concerned about the weight of the stove and that even two or three guys would have trouble lifting it up as high as a truck bed.

Keep in mind, the stove I'm picking up is pristine, so the 'damage' factor is top of my mind.

Most Chambers are in the 480-pound range, so I think you'd be nuts to try the pick-up route, especially since the porcelain is in pristine condition.

Do yourself a favor, rent the trailer with a ramp and get the dolly. If you remove all the burners, oven floor and oven burner, it will lighten up even more. Wimpy me and my suffering husband have moved several Chambers like this and haven't damaged one yet.
